Experience and Research: While pursuing her undergraduate and graduate work, Kathie was a preschool teacher as well as a teacher in an after-school program. She was an instructor of Child Development at Moorpark College (1996-98) prior to joining the faculty at Fresno State in 1998. Her graduate research involved emergent literacy and preschoolers’ use of multiethnic literature, and her current research interests have expanded to include classroom design and its impact on child behavior; block play; attachment; adults’ participation in cause-related cycling events; and adult multiethnic friendships.
